\nThe Australian Shepherd is an
\nintelligent working dog of strong herding and guarding instincts. He
\nis a loyal companion and has the stamina to work all day. With an
\neven disposition, he is good natured, seldom quarrelsome. He may be
\nsomewhat reserved in initial meetings. <\/p>\n

Miniature American Shepherd<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Miniature American
\nShepherd was developed in California during the late 1960’s with the
\nbreeding of small Australian Shepherds. These dogs were bred with a
\ngoal of maintaining their small size, active character and intelligence.
\nThe breed was first registered with the National Stock Dog Registry
\nin 1980 and was originally called the Miniature Australian Shepherd.
\nBy the early 1990’s, they had attained nationwide popularity and were
\nshown in various rare-breed organizations. The first parent breed club
\nand registry, MASCUSA, was formed in 1990 and incorporated in
\n1993. The breed entered the AKC Foundation Stock Service as the
\nMiniature American Shepherd in May 2011. The Miniature American
\nShepherd Club of the USA (MASCUSA) is the designated national
\nparent club of the American Kennel Club.
\nThe breed has been used for herding smaller stock such as sheep and
\ngoats, although they have the heart to tackle larger stock as well. Their
\nsmall size was looked upon with favor, as they could more easily
\ndouble as a household pet. They became especially popular with
\nequestrians traveling to horse shows, as their intelligence, loyalty, and
\nsize made them an excellent travel companion. In this way their
\npopularity spread across the countr<\/p>\n

FCI breed standard<\/a><\/p>\n

Collie, rough<\/strong><\/p>\n

BRIEF HISTORICAL SUMMARY: The rough and the smooth
\nCollie is the same with the exception of coat length. The breed is
\nthought to have evolved from dogs brought originally to Scotland by
\nthe Romans which then mated with native types. Purists may point
\nto subtle differences which have appeared as individual breeders
\nselected stock for future breeding, but the fact remains that the two
\nbreeds derived very recently from the same stock and, in truth, share
\nlines which can be found in common to this day. The Rough Collie
\nis the somewhat refined version of the original working collie of the
\nScottish shepherd, from which it has been selected over at least a
\nhundred years. Many of the dogs can still perform satisfactorily at
\nwork, offered the chance. The basic message is that for all his
\nbeauty, the Collie is a worker. \u00a0\u00a0FCI breed standard<\/a><\/p>\n
